Workshop E-Mobility

“Nothing is more predictable than a night haul to Schlitz.” This sentence appeared in the invitation to the workshop ‘Costs and Benefits of Electric Trucks – Charging Infrastructure at the Central Hub’, which took place yesterday. In the training rooms at our Central Hub in Schlitz near Fulda, partners who have already gained experience with electric trucks answered questions from those still considering whether and when their use is worthwhile.

The workshop was led by Bernhard Muggenthaler, Managing Director of our partner Trans MF. He also gave a presentation on the topic, as did Martin Müller, Business Analyst at our partner Transco; Guido Friedrich, HSW Truck Sales South-East Bavaria (Mercedes-Benz partner); and Björn Groß, Managing Director of Energiesysteme Groß GmbH & Co. KG.

The topics of range and costs were of greatest interest to the participants. And the phrase “Nothing is more predictable than a night haul to Schlitz” refers precisely to range: as long as it is not possible to fast-charge electric trucks across the board, planning is key.

In addition to the smart use of electric trucks on suitable routes – more in long-distance than in local transport – well-trained and skilled drivers determine just how efficient and cost-effective an electric truck is on the road.

The outcome of our workshop: the future belongs to e-mobility. To inform even more partners about the topic, further workshops – including webinars – are being planned.
