Same place, new position: Steffen Wahl has been part of our team at the central hub in Schlitz since March 2012. With his many years of experience in our transshipment hall and in handling processes, he is ideally suited to the role of night shift coordinator. That’s reason enough to ask him a few questions.
You have been working at the OSL central hub since 2012 and have been coordinator for six months. How has your role changed since then?
It has become broader. I used to focus on specific tasks, but now it’s all about the big picture. As coordinator, I am at the heart of the action and the contact person for the team and our partners’ drivers.
What do you want to achieve in your new role as coordinator?
To strengthen the team spirit and improve the interaction. The processes at the central hub, with unloading, distribution to the individual relation places and loading, are similar night after night. But the way people work together and the atmosphere depends a lot on us coordinators. If our colleagues know that we have an overview and are there to support them, it creates a good working atmosphere and increases productivity.
How would you sum up the first six months? Where have you already seen changes?
The team was already working well together, but now it works even better. Since I have been working at ONLINE Systemlogistik for so long, I know most of them very well and I know where their strengths lie and what makes them tick. I take this into account when I plan the night handling processes and when I talk to them. I think it’s already working.
