On 17 June, the long-established Portuguese company Garland Transport Solutions will become a new system partner in the Online Systemlogistik (OSL) general cargo network. Lisbon is the site involved. Freight for this partnership will be handled for the first time at the OSL Central Hub during the night of 17-18 June.
Garland will cover all of Portugal as well as Northern Spain for the Online Systemlogistik international general cargo network; previously Portugal has been handled through bilateral connections of OSL partners. ‘We are completely in tune with the owner-run, mid-sized, family-owned company Garland Transport Solutions,’ said Mike Wüllner, executive at Online Systemlogistik. ‘In regard to general cargo logistics, we speak the same language across borders.’
A Strong Partner in Portugal: Garland Transport Solutions
Garland is clearly an internationally oriented company with seven sites in Portugal, one in Spain (Vitoria-Gasteiz), and one in Morocco (Casablanca), as well as connection to and from the Benelux countries, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, and Switzerland. The company’s roots reach back to 1776; the transport solutions division was founded in 1973. Currently a total of 450 of their own employees and 200 independent subcontractors work for Garland. The fleet in Portugal comprises 45 lorries and up to 500 vehicles operated by independent freight hauliers at the other sites. 224,092 m2 of logistics space and 163,000 m2 of storage space are available for the customers. As fits its international orientation, Garland’s portfolio comprises all aspects of supply chain management including seaborne cargo and airfreight transport.
