On March 1, Emons Spedition, based in Urmitz near Koblenz, will join the Online Systemlogistik (OSL) general cargo network as a new system partner. The first transshipment at the OSL central hub will take place during the night of March 2 to 3.
Urmitz is the second Emons location in the OSL network; the company has been part of the network since 2015 with its branch in Erfurt.
The neighboring OSL partners Hensel Logistik and Friedhelm Kunz, as well as a service provider, were previously responsible for the region around Koblenz; together, they replaced the system partner Bermel, which had left the network due to insolvency.
“We have known and valued Emons in Erfurt as a reliable partner for over ten years,” says Verena Käuper, member of the management board at Online Systemlogistik. “These are ideal conditions for extending the cooperation to another location.” Stephan Schwarz, branch manager of Emons in Urmitz, sees great potential in OSL’s reliability and internationality in particular: “As a family-run, quality-oriented company, we are delighted to have found a partner network for our Koblenz branch with which we can further develop the location and work together on an equal footing.”
As a first step toward partnership-based cooperation, the delivery area was adjusted so that the neighboring partners could retain the postal code areas in which they had established good customer relationships. “Not all cooperations handle this in this way, but for us it is a matter of fairness: those who help to supply an area on a transitional basis should also be allowed to benefit from it,” says Verena Käuper.
Emons Spedition, Urmitz
Founded in 1928 with a single truck, Emons Spedition GmbH & Co. KG can look back on almost a century of history. The first freight forwarding facility was opened in Cologne in 1948, followed by branches in Nuremberg, Stuttgart, Munich, and Freiburg, among others. In the 1990s, branches were added in the eastern federal states. Today, 25 Emons employees process around 500 shipments daily at the Urmitz site near Koblenz. They have 2,480 square meters of handling space and 28 vehicles at their disposal. Emons offers logistics services at over 120 locations worldwide. The current focus is on international expansion.
