EURO Freight visiting the central hub

Das Team von EURO Freight besucht das Zentral-HUB von ONLINE SYstemlogistik

It is more than 200 kilometres from Rheda-Wiedenbrück to Schlitz. The truck drivers of our system partner EURO Freight cover this distance night after night when they drive to our Central Hub. Now other EURO Freight employees have also made their way to Schlitz to take a look at the night-time handling there. We think their beaming faces look especially good in the dark!

Training and exchange in Schlitz

Gefahrgutschulung am Zentral-HUB des Stückgutnetzes ONLINE Systemlogistik.

Calling all HUB staff! Damian Voß, our Operations Manager at ONLINE Systemlogistik’s Central HUB (ZUB) in Schlitz, recently invited all the coordinators of the ZUB, the regional HUBs as well as sub-coordinators to an internal dangerous goods training course. He also wanted them to network, since many had up until then only spoken to each other on the phone.

The correct handling of dangerous goods is one of the supreme disciplines in general cargo handling. Not only does the implementation of the ADR guidelines need to be correct, but also the internal processes including all the documentation. ONLINE Systemlogistik (OSL) specifies internal processes in order to secure uniform procedures at the North HUB in Porta Westfalica, the West HUB in Bottrop, the South HUB in Nördlingen and the Central HUB (ZUB) in Schlitz. They are summarized in the OSL manual and are updated regularly. The goal is to ensure that dangerous goods processes are implemented accordingly at all OSL HUBs.

Last Saturday, this knowledge was refreshed, so all the employees at our HUBs are now up to date again.

A total of 27 employees came to the first internal dangerous goods training course in the new administration building at the “ZUB” in Schlitz. In the large group picture (from left to right): Leon Drögemeier, Coordinator North HUB, his deputy Patrick Britsche; Steffen Wahl, Deputy Coordinator ZUB II; Janine Driessen, Coordinator West HUB; Lukas Schabert, Deputy Coordinator South HUB; Eduard Simon, Deputy Coordinator ZUB I; Alexander Steinhauer, Coordinator ZUB I; Loreen Lenk, Day Shift Coordinator Day at the ZUB; Heiko Kummich, Coordinator South HUB and Selcuk Akyüz, Day Shift Coordinator at the ZUB.

SVG Assekuranz visits night-time handling shift in Schlitz

Das Team der SVG Assekuranz besucht den Nachtumschlag am Zentral-HUB von ONLINE Systemlogistik.

What exactly do people do at ONLINE Systemlogistik’s Central Hub? SVG Assekuranz’s claim adjusters in Münster have probably asked themselves this question many times. Following their recent visit to Schlitz near Fulda during a night-time handling shift, they’ve now had the opportunity to see for themselves – and were visibly impressed. One thing they’ve realised: The claims SVG has been processing since 2011 represent only a small fraction of the general cargo shipments that are handled each day. Thanks to Patrick Tümpel and his team for their visit and the great discussion!

New system partner: Albach GmbH

Der neue Partner Albach wird pro Nacht mit einem Lkw das ZUB anfahren.

New system partner in the Cologne-Bonn area: On 1 October 2023, Albach GmbH, Wuppertal, will join the general cargo network of ONLINE Systemlogistik. The first handling will take place in the night from 2 to 3 October. Initially, Albach will use one truck for Central Hub (ZUB) traffic, and the participating site is Cologne.

Albach employs a total of 70 people at its sites in Wuppertal (headquarters), Hagen and Cologne, and has 57 sprinters and three short-haul vehicles on the road for customers. In addition to transports and direct shipments, Albach also offers e-commerce fulfilment.

We warmly welcome our new partner and look forward to working with them!

Transland visits the central hub

Transland besucht das Zentral-HUB von ONLINE Systemlogistik

Anyone who works in scheduling, the handling warehouse, customer service or a comparable area of our industry should naturally finish their work on time. To then, after a full day’s work, make your way to the Central Hub (ZUB) to observe the night handling admittedly takes a bit of effort! Nevertheless, this is exactly what we offer our 96 system partners: the opportunity to see with their own eyes the processes that take place at our Central Hub in Schlitz near Fulda. Showing how we work night after night is what we mean by maximum transparency.

We would like to thank our system partner Transland for visiting the ZUB last Friday, and are particularly pleased that many apprentices are also taking an interest in the processes in our network. This was the fifth partner to visit to Schlitz this year to see the night handling, following visits by agotrans, Roadline, Global Express and Dröder Spedition. Both we and our colleagues at the ZUB look forward to many more visitors!

Dröder Spedition visits the central hub

Das Team von Dröder Spedition besucht das Zentral-HUB von ONLINE Systemlogistik.

What’s the nightlife like in Schlitz? ONLINE Systemlogistik partners know: At night, the OSL Central Hub is bustling with activity! Hans-Jörg Dröder, Managing Director of our system partner Dröder Spedition in Künzell near Fulda, saw this for himself last Friday. He visited us with employees from the Quality Management, Accounting and Scheduling departments as well as trainee forwarding and logistics service specialists and professional drivers.

They experienced the Central Hub (ZUB) live between 21:00 and 02:00, where the general cargo shipments of 196 trucks are handled each night. There was also a tour of our new social and administrative building, a stop for snacks at the food truck and a short company presentation. And the highlight of the visit? Quite clearly the perfect “choreography” of the industrial trucks in the handling halls of ZUB I and II.

Central Hub: A Map for Drivers

map for drivers - ONLINE Systemlogistik

“Excuse me, where can I find …?” This is a question we often hear when someone arrives at our Central Hub for the first time. As a result, we have created a map for drivers. With the map, everything immediately becomes perfectly clear: Where’s the handling office? Where can I park, shower, use the toilets, or just sit down and get a drink or snack? The flyer with the map and explanations is available in German, English, Romanian and Russian. Since June of this year we have handed it out many times, allowing drivers to quickly find their way around and feel at home.

Engemann a new partner of Online Systemlogistik

Das Team von Engemann u. CO – Engemann ist neuer Systempartner von OSL

New system partner in the Online Systemlogistik (OSL) general cargo network: On 1 August, Engemann u. CO. Internationale Spedition GmbH from Hilden near Düsseldorf will join the network.

Engemann will serve the Düsseldorf metropolitan region as well as parts of Cologne and the surrounding area. For night-time handling, Engemann will call at both the OSL Central Hub in Schlitz near Fulda and the OSL West Hub in Bottrop; the first handling will take place during the night of 1 to 2 August.

Founded in 1966, Engemann u. CO employs 110 people; a fleet of 90 vehicles is on the road daily for customers. At the Hilden site southeast of Düsseldorf, 16,000 square metres of warehouse and logistics space are currently available for transport and logistics. In addition to general cargo handling, the company’s core areas are scheduled transports to and from Southern and Eastern Europe as well as logistics for the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. By joining OSL, Engemann wishes to expand distribution within Germany in particular.

“We are delighted in Engemann to have gained an extremely vital company as a partner. With its medium-sized structure and sustainable focus, Engemann is a perfect fit for us,” says Verena Käuper, Authorised Signatory at Online Systemlogistik. “For the metropolitan regions around Düsseldorf and Cologne in particular, it’s important to have another strong partner in the network.”

Nadine Knippertz 25 years with OSL

Silver weddings are becoming increasingly rare. Even 25-year anniversaries of service aren’t a matter of course. We’re all the more delighted therefore that Nadine Knippertz has been part of the ONLINE Systemlogistik team for the past 25 years and has kept our accounts department running throughout that time. After joining the company in 1998, she quickly had the company’s finances firmly under her control. Any questions about our accounts she answers competently and patiently, including in turbulent times, providing reliable support to both us and our partners.

We warmly congratulate her on her anniversary and look forward to many more years together!

Berlin and Graz visit the Central Hub

Besucher-Führung am Zentral-HUB von ONLINE Systemlogistik

Berlin and Graz visit Schlitz: One week ago at ONLINE Systemlogistik’s Central Hub (ZUB) in Schlitz near Fulda, we welcomed our system partners Roadline (from Mahlow near Berlin) and Global Express (from Kalsdorf near Graz in Austria). For all of them, the ZUB visit was a real eye-opener: This was the first time that our visitors had seen their “own” vehicles roll into the yard and onto their respective ramps. The guests already knew that the ZUB is a hive of activity each night, but they had no idea that so much is going on there! The operational processes at ZUB, e.g. the speedy and at the same time careful unloading and loading of the trucks, proved another surprise. Finally, there was a tour of our new social and administrative building.

At the joint dinner before the ZUB tour and during the remainder of the evening, our partners took the opportunity to get to know the visitors a little better. They were keen to learn how things are going in other areas and what the current hot topics in Berlin and Graz are. Generally during day-to-day work, there is too little time for such conversations.

OSL authorised signatories Mike Wüllner and Verena Käuper as well as Damian Voß, site manager central hub, welcomed the guests to the ZUB: From Roadline, Mario Dunger (forwarding management), Sven Fischer-Schulze (short-haul scheduling) and Nils Briesenick (fleet management/damage); from Global Express, Ludwig Alteneder (projects and controlling) and Rolf Hadolt (managing director).
