Sometimes it’s better not to find anything. For example, when bombs from the Second World War are suspected on a building site. This is what happened to our system partner Allgäu Frachtlogistik: the ground-breaking ceremony for the new logistics facility in Kempten was actually supposed to take place five weeks ago. As the area had already been thoroughly searched in 1961, everything seemed safe. However, the complex structural analysis for the new 2,500 square metre building required 350 piles for the foundations – and new tests. Fortunately, nothing was found and construction can begin on the 4,700 square metre site with access to the B12 and A7 motorways.
Now things have to move quickly, as the lease for the previous location in Weitnau expires at the end of the year. However, the Huber, Muggenthaler, Schopp and Schriever families as building owners are confident that the logistics facility, which includes a hall, 15 loading bays and an office building, will be up and running by mid-December; they are investing five million euros in the new site. We wish our partner Allgäu Frachtlogistik all the best for the construction phase and a good start in Kempten!
