The general cargo cooperation ONLINE Systemlogistik (OSL) will put a West-HUB into operation in Bottrop this summer. The location is the facility of the system partner Rottbeck. Goods handling is to start on 1 August at the latest; 52 gates and 6,000 m2 of logistics space are available for this purpose. The western hub is primarily intended to relieve the central hub in Schlitz.
Eight new partners joined at the beginning of 2022, and the central goods handling facility in Schlitz with 221 gates and 15,500 square metres of space reaches its capacity limits at peak times. “With the West-HUB, we are taking into account both the growth through new partners and the high volume of consignments in the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region,” says authorised signatory Mike WĂĽllner. “We will also connect our depots in the Netherlands and Belgium. Strategically, we are also planning daily departures to the HUB of our French partner cooperation Astre Palet System south of Paris.”
Online Systemlogistik already maintains four transshipment points: two logistics facilities at the central HUB in Schlitz near Fulda, the northern HUB in Porta Westfalica at the partner Meyer-Jumbo, and the southern HUB in Nördlingen at the partner Döderlein.
Ecologically and economically sensible
More than 30 of the total of 89 logistics companies in the OSL general cargo network benefit directly from the expansion: “For system partners from the region,” Petra Welling sums up the advantages, “the new HUB offers the possibility of saving kilometres with transhipment in Bottrop and of optimising the main leg load ecologically and economically.”
In addition, the partners can use the loading and unloading service in Bottrop. Spedition Rottbeck has good technical prerequisites as well as an experienced logistics team for efficient goods handling.
